Classroom Etiquette

  • The camera must stay on during class

  • Students only mute their camera when teachers asks

  • Students 10 or more minutes late (without advance notice), may not enter a “Group Class”

  • Students must have a quiet background (Loud noises cancel out the voices of other screen)

  • Students names must be filled in on screen

  • Students may not leave classes earlier than 5 minutes before (unless discussed with grown ups beforehand)

Behavior Management (3 Strike Method)

  1. Verbal to student

  2. Verbal to student, Email to parent

  3. Verbal to student, Call to parent, Move to private session (If in a group class)

If the student is in a private lesson and still having problems, the director and the family will make a plan to partner and create a behavioral incentive system. Any further behavioral challenges, will result in Dismissal from S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy.

Parent/Teacher Communication

  • No use of personal phones to reach teachers (Except for emergency purposes)

  • Communicate by scheduled Zoom meeting or by Email

  • Parents should anticipate supporting their student for their 1st five classes as they adjust

  • Parent must provide teacher, with necessary information to build a customized curriculum

  • Parents and Teachers alike, are expected to be Respectful and Professional

Parent/Teacher Dismissal Protocols

  • If a teacher leaves the school or is dismissed, that teacher may NOT pursue current or former students of S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy, for 6 Months after Dismissal

  • If a parent/student leaves, or is dismissed by S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy, the family may NOT pursue private support from current S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy Staff.

  • If a parent/student leaves or is dismissed from S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy,the family may NOT pursue private support from former S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy staff.

  • Any discovery of this deception, will be met with a civil suit from the company and a fine of up to $5,000/ per session unlawfully held.

  • S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy is not to be used as a method of virtual childcare, but a virtual establishment for the purposes of education. Any poor effort of support to this end will lead to dismissal of the student. Our teachers are hired with stellar educational backgrounds, with the intent to teach and pass on knowledge to students, with the goal of closing the gap caused by the initial shutdown of the world due to the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic.

Payments 

  • Payments must be made at least 24 hours BEFORE a student attends a class. 

  • Teachers will not prep curriculum and schedule a class into their day until the Director has confirmed receipt of payment

  • Parents will receive any more lesson materials, than they have paid for. (If you want materials in bulk, you will need to make a payment a week ahead of time for a teacher to prepare and send material)

Absenteeism and Tardiness

  • 3 “No call no show” situations = Meet with the Director

  • 50%  tardiness over a 1 month period worth of classes (Meet with director)

  • Parents must cancel the day before a class to keep from paying (50% or 100% of the session group vs private)

  • If there is an emergency on the day of, the director needs to be contacted directly (925.623.6302)

Recording

  • Every student needs to have a completed “Recording Waiver” before they start classes

  • Students and teachers are recorded in their classes, for the purpose of supervision, by the Owner/Director of the school and for safety

  • All teachers on staff are Mandated reports and will report in the best interest of every child.

  • Students may not attend group classes without a completed “Recording Waiver”

  • Parents who do Not wish to have classes with their student recorded, may opt out , by completing a liability waiver and must take private lessons, in addition to this accommodation.

  • Parents who opt out of recording private classes, must allow audio recording for the purpose of minimal supervision and verification of classes completed, for the purpose of staffing payroll needs. (A liability waiver, must also be completed)

Material Acquisition, Supplies and data Recording

  • The basic supplies each student will need are: Pencils, coloring utensils, scissors and glue (For those who do not have those materials, assistance will be offered)

  • Parents generally need access daily to a printer, printer paper and ink. (For those who do not have access to this equipment and materials,accommodations will be made Via Mail)

  • For Art classes, water colors, paintbrushes, glue, scissors are the basic needs. (Any materials that can not be found in the home can be provided by the school via Mail or parent support)

  • The usual procedure for class work from a S.T.E.A.M. Engine Academy Lesson plan is delivery via email, for families to print out before classes.

  • Parents print the days work and students are hands on with their materials to complete the assignment with the teacher. (Our school prefers hands-on work and minimizes website work and on screen educational play

  • For quizzes, writing practice, drawing and other activities, the class teacher may request a sample of your student’s work. This will only consist of a quick photo taken of the paperwork and submission by email, for teachers to track progress.
